Germán Bernácer Prize
The Bernácer Prize is awarded annually to European economists under the age of 40, who have made outstanding contributions in the fields of macroeconomics and finance. The prize is named for Germán Bernácer, an early Spanish macroeconomist.
The prize was created in 2001 by the OBCE (Observatorio del Banco Central Europeo), an Spanish independent think tank. The prize was established to recognise the work of young economists from the European Union and to stimulate research on European macroeconomics and financial issues.
Current members of the prize committee are ECB Vice President Lucas Papademos, Jordi Galí, Francesco Giavazzi, Edward C. Prescott, Eduardo Schwarz, José Viñals, Charles Wyplosz, and Juan José Dolado.
